ZAHRA ABAYA
- Description
The Zahra Abaya carries a memory — shaped by heritage, colour, and the quiet rhythm of making by hand.
Traditional Sindhi Ajrak block print moves across the fabric in deep, earthen reds, each motif marked by the gentle irregularity of the artisan’s process. Paired with softened Italian linen and finished with hand-printed cotton cuffs, the textures sit together with an ease, and naturally composed.
The silhouette is relaxed and unhurried. Nothing feels imposed. The garment reveals itself slowly — through movement, through touch, through time.
There is a warmth to natural fibres that deepens with wear. They soften, adapt, and become part of the everyday. The Zahra is not designed for occasion, but for return — worn often, lived in, and quietly gathered into the rhythm of daily life.
Each piece is handcrafted to order in Waddesdon, England. Fabrics are washed, prepared, and line dried by hand before they are brought into form, preserving the integrity of the natural dyes and the story within the cloth.
Slight variations in colour and texture are embraced as part of the garment’s individuality — a reflection of the hands that made it, and the traditions it carries.
A piece rooted in memory, made for a slower way forward.
Colour: Red
Fabric: 60% Cotton, 40% Linen
Note: Each Ajrak cloth is entirely made by hand, meaning the placement of patterns may vary from one garment to another, highlighting the uniqueness and artisanal nature of every piece.
Care: This piece is crafted using traditional Ajrak techniques with natural dyes. Due to the nature of this process, slight colour transfer may occur, particularly onto lighter fabrics or surfaces. We recommend taking care when wearing and storing your garment, especially during the first few wears.
Hand wash at 30% using a mild detergent. Line dry. Medium iron.
What we did: All the materials used have been hand selected carefully for their high quality and character. Prior to production, the cotton has had a delicate hand wash with salt and vinegar to lock in the dyes. The fabric is then line dried and then checked thoroughly. This process takes 24 hours to ensure the cloth is ready to be turned into your beautiful abaya.
Any imperfections are natural characteristics of the materials and not considered as faults, but the beauty of the artisans' craftsmanship.
