Mindful Monday: Always Be Humble
Mindful Mondays - ideas inspired by spiritual learnings and personal reflections.

Since I was a child, I have always been a bold mix of being confident and being shy. My confidence is there, when I’m in my comfort zone, around the people I trust, and those who know me. Then on the contrast, I am very reserved around those whom I am not familiar with, and sometimes doubt myself, especially when I’m misunderstood or misjudged.
I suppose our childhood environments mould the way we evolve into adulthood, and life experiences influence the way we navigate in society.
We, humans, are very complicated. But as long as we strive to radiate positive energy, we can create a healthy environment for everyone, wherever we are in life.
One of the lessons in life that I always remember, is to never display arrogance, and never to feel or display that you are better than others.
We must never brag about who we are or what we own, but instead remain steadfast in being humble and modest.
Am I being humble or am I hiding?

I am very proud of what I have accomplished in life, through my schooling and in my career, because I have always strived to work hard, and bring out the best from within myself.
I am confident about what we create at AYWA - abayas that are handcrafted with love, from mindfully selected materials and promoting a slower, more wholesome way of life. AYWA is about creating the types of products that are the same as I would want for myself and my family.
Pure goodness or tayyib.

However,
sometimes my interpretation of ‘confidence’, brings me into a fear, where I question myself
“Am I being arrogant”?
I take a step back, and end up hiding!
I often have a sense of reservation when it comes to being forthcoming about our brand. I find a series of questions rolling in my mind… “Do I project that AYWA is better than other brands out there"?, “do I come across superior”?, or “am I being arrogant”? - because of the things I talk about and the abayas that I offer. It's something different and unique, and we have an alternative narrative, within the abaya scene.
I get paranoid.
For what reason?
I don’t know. I take a step back, and end up hiding. We then don’t get seen, and as a result, we suffer as a small business.
“Why am I hiding? I’ve not done anything wrong”!
I think it’s all in my head, because I’m always conscious about what I say, and I genuinely care about my clients and want to offer them quality pieces that they can cherish.
I’m so passionate about what I do, and I love talking about it.
AYWA is about promoting an authentic and wholesome collection of abayas to our clients, and creating an educational platform to spread the message of mindfulness, wholesome living and consideration for the environment.
We believe in slow fashion, and garments made consciously from natural fibres.
Why? Because they are good for us - good for the body, and good for our health and wellbeing.
We are striving
to spread the message of
Goodness
So we’re not bragging about anything - it’s passion!

I now tell myself - Share more about what you’re doing; keep talking taking about the difference you’re trying to make. AYWA is more than an another abaya brand. It’s a lifestyle… a quiet and humble movement.
Best wishes from Waqaas :)
